Stupid Naïveté

Posted: April 27, 2016 in Poetry

When the pain of desolation takes over
You wonder which sparkling smile hides blades
It’s not until it’s too late to run for cover
That time reveals a lie in all its deadly shades

Ignorance offers no sweet respite
The world punishes you for stupidity
It lures you then spits you out in spite
Until you forever regret your stupid naivety

Oh, how laughter tastes bitter
When you realize your own fate!
And how smiles are never sweeter
When you wallow in deep regret!

David 2016

“This world punishes you for what you don’t know and for what you overlooked. There is no bliss in ignorance….just excruciating pain”.
